London based producer + songwriter, Bubbles talks with Bootleg Bop Radio about her debut EP titled “Pure Delite” (1/17/18 via Palettes). Listen to ‘Sex on the Beach’, a track from the upcoming release that will hydrate your flirtatious impulse.

What were some of the moments in the 2017 that gave you the excitement to keep performing and making music?

I graduated from university this year and got to do a final performance for my degree. Getting to work towards a 30 minute set at the end of the year spurred on a lot of what I created throughout the year. But the end of the year was also a doozy so I don’t feel like there were many moments of 2017 that kept me performing just sheer will power.

Tell me more about “Pure Delite” ?

“Pure Delite” is a sort of compilation of some tracks I’ve made over the last year. I’ve been sitting on some of these tracks for a year now and have been really bad at releasing them so I felt like it was time! I included the tracks I liked the most and felt were the funnest for people to listen to – there’s a track on there called ‘Wii Sport’ that’s really simple and bouncy and then ‘Commitment’ is more of an all out dancier track.

Who are some of your musical inspirations?

I’m so preoccupied by song-writing and writing something catchy so I usually look to the heavy-weight champs of that field like Max Martin and whatever’s doing well in the top 40. ‘Pure Delite’ and ‘Sex On The Beach’ were initially made for a uni assessment where I was attempting to take inspiration from any production and sounds that reminded me of the ocean and water. I included loads of dancehall-inspired pop (usually mislabelled Tropic House) sounds in ‘Sex On The Beach’ and the strings in ‘Pure Delite’ were directly inspired by the soundtrack Thomas Newman did for Finding Nemo.

What can people expect from the debut EP?

They can expect humor and sarcasm, something to sing along to and maybe even dance along to. It’s a whole 2 year skip forward from ‘Done With You’ without any progression tracks released in-between so they should expect it to be a little different from what they’ve heard before.

How would you describe the overall sound / mood for this EP?

Cardi B in the MotorSport video, lying on a vermillion chenille sun chair by the beach in Ibiza with a mojito, then you quick pan dive into the water and it’s Finding Nemo but all of the fish are replaced with Nintendo Miis.
